Overview of CheMentor Individual Modules - details and on-line samples: This is a 'Practice' module, consisting of one program. Using a database of 208 compounds and ions, the program selects
an ion or compound at random and asks you to work out the oxidation
number (state) for one of the elements present in the formula. The rules for assigning oxidation numbers are presented by clicking
on the 'Rules' button. These may be hidded if you like. Each Rule
is displayed by your clicking on a 'More' button and as this is
done, the on-screen Text reference scrolls to provide more information
that is relevant to the rule being displayed. You can show or hide the Text and the Rules at any time. After you have entered your answer, click on the 'Judge' button
and see the feedback. You can always 'Peek' at the solution to
the problem - a window will be displayed showing how the oxidation
number was worked out. Try out the program - it should have appeared in the area below.
