The Ions Reference Program

This little program appears in its own window and when called from another program - such as the Formula Recognition and Writing program, its window is placed in front of the other program window.

The program contains several screens with listings of ions. Included are cations and ions from the periodic table and polyatomic anions and their related acids.

The program operates very simply - click on the formula of an ion or a compound and you will see its name

The acids and their ions are shown in ionization reactions. You can click on the formula of the acid and see its name and also the anion.

The acids are categorized as binary and oxy-acids - including the halogen oxy-acid series. This is a very useful program for practising the naming of ions and acids.

Try out the program - it should have appeared in the area below.

About the items you will see on the screen ...

The 'Close' button - not active in this demo version - it closes the window that displays the Periodic Table The 'Ions Menu' - click here and a pop-up menu will appear, containing a listing of the types of ions and compounds that are present in the program
