web-site. For the full text, follow this link CheMentor 3.1 is now available for both Macintosh and PC's running
Windows95. New features are the addition of a new menu system and the Empirical
and Molecular Formulae module. The new menu system allows you to easily move betweem modules
and programs and in multi-step problems allows you to branch out
from a larger problem to work on related skills. Read more about the menu system. The new Empirical and Molecular Formulae module uses a database
of about 720 compounds - organic and inorganic. It can create
data for problems using mass composition and combustion analysis
data 'on the fly'. This, along with the installed base of percentage
composition problems, provides a very large number of possible
problems. Each problem has its own set of Help menu items - tailored to
the data provided and the required answer. You can select help
at any step in the problem by choosing an item from the Help menu.
This takes you to a new screen where you can link to help outlines
(using the 'How' button, for instance) and find a rationale for
what is being done (using the 'Why?' button). You can also 'Peek'
at the expected answer(s) for that particular step in the problem.
And, you can also 'Peek' at the final answer to the problem You can try out the Empirical and Molecular Formulae module on-line.
